Israel’s Wars

Israel is a nation that has been at war with Islamic fundamentalism through most of its existence. It has never initiated a war and acts always in its legitimate self defense. Israel’s war in Gaza in response to the extraordinary savagery of Iranian proxy groups, notably Hamas, on the 7th of October 2023 is no different. Hamas, as of this writing, holds hostages from the 7th of October and refuses to return them unconditionally. These were not military hostages or prisoners of war (POWs) – they were unarmed civilians - men, women, and children - most of whom were attending a music festival. In the initiation and execution of its savagery, Hamas and other Iranian proxy groups followed no established rules of war and they did not initiate an attack on the Israeli military in pursuit of a comprehensible military objective. Within Gaza, from where Hamas operated and governed the region, it had embedded itself into civilian infrastructure including schools and hospitals in a manner that no legitimate, civilized governing authority would ever do. Knowing fully that Israeli retribution would follow their hostage taking, Hamas and other terror proxies used Gazan residents as human shields, thereby, leaving Israel, the real victim, with no option but to launch a military offensive targeting urban centres in Gaza where Hamas was embedded.
Israel’s military operations in Gaza have revealed an intricate web of underground tunnels beneath Gaza’s urban infrastructure that Hamas and other terror proxies have carefully built over the past two decades. These tunnels have been used for the storage and transportation of munitions, including rockets meant to target Israel, as well as the movement and harbour of armed Hamas terrorists. Most likely, this tunnel network is also being used to hold the remaining hostages. We know this because some of the released hostages were held in the dungeons of these tunnels. It is also important to note that these tunnels lead, from Gaza, into Egypt, thus establishing the external conduit from where munitions and armed terrorists have been imported. It is also, perhaps, unique in the history of armed conflict that a civilian population in Gaza has not been allowed to leave a war zone because its governing authority (Hamas) would like to utilize this populace as cannon fodder in its response to Israel. Just as Hamas and other Iranian proxy groups showed no mercy towards the civilians of Israel on the 7th of October, so don’t they when it comes to the civilians in Gaza.
What I have just outlined are clearly obtainable and verifiable facts that are common knowledge and accessible to any news outlet dedicated to honest and objective journalism. One would have thought that with this background and context in mind, the major news outlets of the world would be clamouring to have the hostages released – daily, loudly, incessantly. One would have thought that these same news outlets would have been thanking the bravery and tenacity of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for the valiant efforts in bringing their nation’s hostages back, and lauding and honouring the memory of the 800+ IDF soldiers who have lost their lives since October 2023. One would have thought that the political leaders of the world would have united, unequivocally, behind Israel while committing to offer any form of assistance – military or humanitarian – to the people of Israel in these extraordinary times. One would have thought that Israeli citizens and people of Jewish descent would have been extended basic goodwill and sympathy for their extraordinary loss in these difficult times – many of whom have lost friends and family during this period.
We do hear condemnation, we do witness tears of sympathy, we do hear of a humanitarian crisis, and we do hear of a resolute desire to establish peace and to serve justice. We hear condemnation of Israel and the IDF for waging war, for starving Gazans, for murdering babies, and for daring to defend itself and securing the release of its hostages. We witness oceans of sympathetic tears emanating across the globe – not tears for the hostages who died or for the civilians who were murdered on October7th, or for the IDF soldiers who lost their lives, but for the Gazan human shields that Hamas orchestrated and put in harm’s way – harm that the IDF has desperately tried to avoid while fighting a seven front war. We do hear of a humanitarian crisis – not the crisis of Israeli society of having to live under the constant threat of rocket and drone attacks for many, many decades or of the crisis of people of Jewish descent who are victims of violent antisemitism on a daily basis around the globe but of starving Gazan children standing beside plump and well-fed Gazan mothers with food aid whose calorific value exceeds the count available in many lower to middle income countries. We do hear of a resolute desire to establish peace – not by eliminating Hamas and other Iranian terror proxies and bringing their operatives to justice – but by rewarding these terror groups with a shiny, new Palestinian state so that future attacks against Israel become more severe and yet more lethal.
In such a topsy turvy, upside down world, it is no surprise that useful idiots such as journalist Piers Morgan or climate activist Greta Thunberg parrot the same bullshit over and over again.
